Balneoclimateric resort Sangeorz-Bai

Sangeorz-Bai is a small town in Romania situated in the heart of Carpathian Mountains which benefits from a lot of natural treasures. Many healing mineral water springs, beautiful views, tourist attractions and hospitable people make Sangeorz-Bai a place worth.

The resort is located in the North-East of Bistrita-Nasaud County, in the Dracula’s well known realm, Transylvania. Surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, the resort has a mountain climate which can be your shelter during the hot summer days. The annual average temperature is 7 °C.

The realm of the Hebe Goddess

In Greek Mythology Hebe was the goddess of youth, and her parents were Zeus and Hera. She was married with Heracles, a symbol of strength. Hebe served nectar and ambrosia to the Olympians and she had the ability to restore youth. Since the year 1770 Sangeorz-Bai was known as a location where mineral waters can make miracles, "Hebe" being a suggestive term for the springs properties.

Balneoclimateric resort

The city, balneoclimateric resort, is known from 1245, in that time with the name "Sanct Gurgh", but appears for the first time like a place where mineral waters heals only in 1770 on the Austro-Ungary Empire. In 1876 the resort take the name of "Hebe" with suggests the mineral waters properties, healing properties. Hebe Hotels (900 people) and few villas, in the beginnings of XX century, form this balneoclimateric resort wich has to be one of the most popular resorts from Transylvania. The mineral waters from the resort are used for balneoclimateric treatments in the private medical centers of Hebe Hotel and Somes Hotel. The Hebe Hotel has 3 balneoclimateric departments: hydrotherapy, thermotherapy and electrotherapy. Under the guidance of specialist staff, Somesul Hotel Treatment Center can perform complex procedures for treating various diseases such as: digestive tract disorders, hepato-biliary diseases, metabolic and nutritional disorders, and associated conditions. The bases have mineral water installations with hot baths for electrotherapy and hydrotherapy, inhalations and aerosols. There are procedures with paraffin and mineral mud for wrapping. There are also gyms.
